Dancers Who NYC was inspired by the multifaceted nature of the NYC dance community. With the mission of providing accessible platforms for dancers to showcase their various skill sets, Dancers Who started at Green Room 42, as The Dancers Who Sing Cabaret. Following the Dancers Who Sing Cabaret, other projects such as The Dancers Who Choreography Showcase, and the soon to come, The Dancers Who Write Workshop were born.
Dancers Who has just celebrated its fourth iteration of The Dancers Who Sing Cabaret. Dancers Who NYC is proud to have partnered with Ripley-Grier to create the first Dancers Who Choreograph Showcase, which premiered with two sold out performances and was co produced by Viktoria Chiappa, Sarah Juliet Shaw and Eric Waters. Dancers Who Choreograph featured 12 up and coming choreographers with the mission of creating an accessible showcase platform with subsidized rehearsal spaces, no fee submission, and industry invited guests.
Mission Statement:
Dancers Who operates under the philosophy that there is room for everyone at the table and strives to make dancers feel seen, heard and valued in a world where that is not always guaranteed. Dancers Who is an opportunity for dancers to celebrate their skills, connect with other industry professionals, broaden their community and create new work.
It is so special to live in a community with such phenomenal talent, dedication, support and leadership and Dancers Who is humbled to provide spaces for it’s community to create unfiltered art.
Dancers Who NYC was created by Viktoria Chiappa to celebrate dancers and all that we do.
